Here at Pinnacle Autosound, we work on cars, boats, golf carts, trucks, and sometimes big trucks. The owner of this Freightliner stopped by to ask about replacing the radio in his truck and adding a little bit of bass. Those two things are well within our wheelhouse, so we booked his appointment.
Freightliner Radio Upgrade
Our first job on this truck was to replace the radio. When the client stopped by, he agreed that the Kenwood KDC-x304 would be great for his truck. The x304 is in Kenwood’s eXcelon line of products. The eXcelon products not only offer enhanced sound quality and more features but also include a two-year warranty. Standard Kenwood products carry a one-year warranty. By choosing the X304, the client will now have Bluetooth capability and the option to play CDs.
Freightliner Bass Upgrade
While we were in the truck, the client wanted us to add a bit of bass. We looked around at the available space and found that one of our Rockford Fosgate-powered enclosures would fit perfectly. The enclosure was one of our most popular, the P300-8P. This enclosure features a ported design to maximize efficiency, an 8-inch woofer and a 300-watt amplifier. Because the amplifier is built into the enclosure, the client can easily remove the enclosure by just unplugging two plugs. The enclosure and woofer might be small, but they produce an impressive amount of bass.
Final Settings and Delivery
Once the radio was installed and the enclosure was all wired up, it was time to adjust all the settings. As with all our radio installations, we went in and set the clock, adjusted general settings, and tailered the sound settings to optimize them for the vehicle. After we set the radio, we adjusted the crossover and level settings on the enclosure to match it to the radio. The result was a significant improvement in sound for this Freightliner. Got a big truck and need a new radio or audio upgrades? Stop by with it sometime and let us talk about some options for it; you can also contact us here.
