We got a phone call from one of our Cross City clients a while back. He said he was getting a new commuter car and wanted to help out with the sound in the vehicle. We talked with the client and determined he needed a bass upgrade for his new 2022 Honda Civic.

JL Audio BassWedge Enclosure

Here at Pinnacle Autosound, we pride ourselves on the quality of the enclosures we build. If you come into our store, you will find the only enclosures on our showroom floor are manufacturer-built, loaded enclosures. While we like to custom build most of our enclosures, sometimes the enclosures built by the subwoofer manufacturer and loaded with their subwoofers make sense. This was the case with this client’s upgrade.
The client had stopped in to let us look at his Civic and give him an estimate on what adding bass to it would cost. He liked our ideas and asked when we could do it. We had our early morning appointment canceled, so we told him we could fit him in right then. Having the option of the JL Audio BassWedge enclosure allowed us to fit him in an otherwise tight schedule.

JL Audio Amplifier and Bass Knob

To power his new JL Audio BassWedge, we used a JL Audio JD500/1 amplifier. The JD line of amplifiers provides plenty of power and incredible value. While they might be JL Audio’s entry-level amplifiers, they certainly don’t sound like it! We mounted the amplifier up under the rear deck of the Civic. This made sure we didn’t take up any additional space in the trunk, as the client wanted the option to remove the enclosure for more trunk space when needed.

In almost every bass installation, we integrate a remote level control for the subwoofer amplifier. We have found that our clients like being able to adjust the level of the subwoofers, relative to the output of the speakers.

We created a plastic trim plate on our laser to identify the purpose of the knob. While the knob most likely will stay to the right, we added indicators of the up and down directions.
